- Trying to find a photograph of Brud Petty, one of the late and legendary bachelors of the area, proved to be very difficult. I finally met up with Mary Dunleavy (formerly Petty), a sister of Brud’s who lent me a photograph of Brud taken in the early 80s. The Pettys had a farm in Knockacarn on the other side of the valley from Lurraga.
