This painting is the first of an ongoing memory map series. The paintings, drawings and artworks attempt to create a description of place by using memory snapshots and anecdotes. London Memory Map 1 shows various postcodes in North London, areas where I've lived, worked, played, loved.
Using this form I'm striving towards a paint-prose haiku. Like my similar (but different) Flower Paintings, the Memory Maps are informed by Zen poetry and an instinctual type of psycho-geography.
It's also an alternative kind of landscape painting. Painted from the air using a time machine.
