This painting refers to a meeting in the late 80s/early 90sbetween my wife, Cindy, and the three old people who lived near the crossroads junction of Lurraga and Cahermaccrusheen. Maudey (Shannon) Connors, Tadey Tierney and Christy Queally were all working in the field next to Maudey’s cottage. On seeing Cindy, one of the men shouted “Bet you’d like to live round here, wouldn’t you?”.
Try as I might I could not find any photographic record of what these people really looked like. As Pat Woods said, people didn’t used to stand around in the fields taking photographs of each other.
